About us

Southeast Saskatchewan is home to a new consulting engineering firm with a fresh approach to business and customer service dedication. Great Dane Engineering specializes in providing Safety Program Development, COR / SECOR coaching, Employee Safety Training, Drilling Rig and Service Rig Safety Inspections, Site Safety Supervision, Project Management, Industrial Facilities Maintenance, Layout and Design, and Iintegration Services to help bring any project from concept to a successful finish, regardless of its scale.

We’re a hands-on, customer service oriented entity dedicated to each project we take on.

Rob Stables was inspired to launch Great Dane Engineering, named for his own two beloved Great Danes, after noticing a demand for a broad scope Safety, Industrial, Project management firm in Southeastern Saskatchewan – a demand that perfectly compliments his past experience and strong skill set.

Stables has spent nearly 22 years working as an engineer in Manufacturing and Upstream oil and gas, where he focused largely on Safety Compliance, Plant Maintenance, Project Management, Plant Automation, and Environmental regulatory compliance. He has a track record of being able to ensure safety and environmental compliance while keeping all projects on time and on budget ensuring project success. The skills and experience he developed during that time translate well to any area where quality engineering project management is required.

This extensive experience is backed by his registration as a Professional Engineer with the Associations of Professional Engineers, Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), Saskatchewan (APEGS) and Manitoba (APEGM). He serves as a volunteer with APEGS on the Equity and Diversity Committee, was a member and Chair of the K-12 Education Committee, was a mentor Engineers in Training and was Elected to APEGS Council for a three (3) year term in 2012. Rob is also a National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) certified Level II Firefighter, Level II Fire Service Instructor, Apparatus Operator, and Hazardous Materials Operations Level. He recently retired from the Weyburn Fire Department where he served as a volunteer Fire Fighter for 14 years. Rob is employed casually as a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) with the Sooline Ambulance Association in Milestone, SK. and Radville EMS in Radville, SK.

Great Dane is ready to take on a variety of projects, from overseeing safety on a facility expansion to managing the construction of upstream oil and gas facilities, pipelines and industrial installations.

We can take your project from start to completion, making sure that what you want is what you’re getting; monitoring all of the subcontractors within the project to ensure they are doing what they say they’re going to do, doing it to design specifications, following safety regulations and that the project runs on schedule and on budget.

Rob is married to Patty and together they are raising six children. Rob and family have lived in Weyburn for almost twenty years, are involved in the community and look forward to enjoying all that Saskatchewan has to offer.
